How puppy-s.com makes money, and why it does not change what we recommend.
Last updated 22 August 2026
In plain English
Some links on puppy-s.com are affiliate links. If you buy something through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes which products we recommend, how we rank them, or what we say about them.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is an ordinary link with a tracking code attached. If you click one and go on to buy something, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay the same price you would have paid anyway — the commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your pocket.
This is how puppy-s.com is funded. We do not charge for access, we do not run display advertising, and we do not sell your data. Affiliate commission is what pays for the research behind the guides.
Programmes we take part in
puppy-s.com currently participates in:
- affiliate programme 1
- affiliate programme 2
- affiliate programme 3 — add or remove rows as needed
Individual product pages may also link to retailers we have no commercial relationship with at all, where that retailer is simply the best place to buy.
Before you publish
Keep the Amazon paragraph below only if you are actually enrolled in the Associates programme. The Operating Agreement requires participants to display a statement of this kind — and displaying it while not enrolled is its own problem. Delete the whole paragraph if you have not joined.
As an Amazon Associate, puppy-s.com earns from qualifying purchases.
How commissions affect our recommendations
They do not. Products are scored against the published criteria on our How We Recommend page before any commercial terms are considered, and a product with no affiliate programme at all can win — and has won — a category.
Specifically, we do not:
- Accept payment in exchange for a positive review
- Accept payment for a place in a guide, or for a higher ranking
- Let a brand see, approve or amend a review before it is published
- Rank by commission rate
Where a brand has sent us a product to look at, we say so on the page. Receiving a sample does not guarantee coverage and does not affect the score.
Where you will see disclosures
A short disclosure appears above the first affiliate link on every page that carries one, and in the footer of every page on the site. It reads:
The short version, site-wide
Some links may be affiliate links. We may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
This page is the full version.
We do this because the FTC’s Endorsement Guides require a material connection to be disclosed clearly and conspicuously, close to the recommendation itself — not only in a policy page you would have to go looking for.
Prices and availability
We do not set prices and we do not control retailer stock. Any price shown on this site is the price we saw when the page was last reviewed, and it can change at any time. Always check the price on the retailer’s own page before you buy.
Insurance and financial links
Please read this one carefully
puppy-s.com is not an insurance broker, agent or adviser, and is not authorised to give insurance or financial advice. Our insurance comparisons are general information to help you ask better questions — they are not a recommendation that a particular policy is right for you.
Regulatory status: state your position — e.g. not regulated / registered with X under number Y
Where we link to an insurance provider, that link may also be a paid referral. Cover, exclusions, waiting periods and pricing vary by provider, by country and by individual pet. Read the policy documents before you buy, and check the provider is authorised to sell insurance where you live.
Supporting us without using affiliate links
If you would rather not use an affiliate link, you can search for the product directly at any retailer and buy it there — the guides work perfectly well as research. Sharing a guide with another new puppy owner helps us just as much.
Questions about this policy?
If anything here is unclear, or you think we have missed a disclosure somewhere on the site, please tell us. We would rather fix it than leave it.
